The originally Romanesque building, dating from the first quarter of the 13th century, was expanded with a late Gothic tower, a choir extension, and a sacristy to the south. The church is surrounded by the former cemetery. Parts of the cemetery wall are still preserved. After a fire in the mid-18th century, the nave was re-vaulted, and the southern sacristy, which was essentially late Gothic, was expanded. In the 19th century, the nave was extended with a choir of the same width and the addition of a side chapel to the south, which was consecrated in 1842.
