The sundial in Grein is located on the Danube promenade near Esperantoplatz and was designed by Werner Riegler in 1993. It is an equatorial sundial, in which a wire rope stretched parallel to the Earth's axis casts a shadow onto a scale, allowing the time to be read with an accuracy of approximately two minutes. The frame is made of chrome-nickel steel, and the dial and scales are made of brass. A granite globe with engraved continents also shows which regions of the Earth are currently sunny.
