In the years 1834–37 the Municipal Gymnasium building was built. In the years 1875–1878 the Royal Post Office Superintendent's Office building was built (architect Carl Schwatlo). From 1926 (after the construction of the third floor) the first radio station in Gdańsk operated there. In turn, the former gymnasium was transformed into a secondary school. In 1945 most of the buildings were destroyed, the school building with an adjacent residential house and the post office building survived, which was however seriously damaged and partially burned down.
