The Axtbach, a stream in Münsterland, is a 34.1 km long, orographically left tributary of the Ems. It rises on the Mackenberg in the Beckum mountains, flows through Oelde, the Menninghausen farming community in Oelde, the Herzebrock-Clarholz district of Möhler and then flows south past Clarholz to Beelen, where the Beilbach flows into it to the west of the town. The Axtbach itself flows into the Ems in Vohren east of Warendorf. The Axtbach was renatured in the area of the Four Seasons Park in Oelde and in Vohren. It now flows again partly in its original bed through wet meadows and forms floodplain lakes. The straightening and channeling in Beelen and Vohren took place in 1964.
The fish stocks of the Axtbach include carp, tench, pike, eel, bream and roach. There are now freshwater mussels again.
