The village church of Klein Gartz was built in the 13th century. It is a typical fieldstone building of that period and consists of a rectangular nave, a recessed choir and an apse. The west transept tower, also built of fieldstone, complements the historical appearance of the church.
The church is surrounded by a churchyard that is used as a cemetery. Today the village church of Klein Gartz belongs to the Evangelical Church in Central Germany, specifically to the parish of Groß Chüden in the Salzwedel church district.
