Scotton Flax Mill was powered by the river with a weir that was removed in early 2022. The mill produced yarn from raw flax for hard wearing cloth and operated from its opening in 1798 until it closed in 1851. It was run by Eteson Dearlove company and it is now a fine private residence.

The stone bench is a great spot for lunch at the side of the River with a good view of the old mill and the River running East towards Knaresborough.

Lovely place stop and rest. Maybe if you're lucky you will see the otters. Best time is in the early post dawn hours.
