The Bell Tower of San Michele degli Scalzi is one of the three historic leaning towers of Pisa, located along the picturesque Viale delle Piagge promenade along the Arno River. This stone and brick bell tower is famous for a surprising feature: due to the subsidence of the marshy ground below, it has a tilt of a full 5 degrees, exceeding the slope of the much more famous Leaning Tower of Pisa by one degree.
