Using the Metro in Cairo was a great experience. Rides cost only a single digit EGP fare. Tickets can be purchased from counters in every station. Just tell them which station you intend to hop off. Keep the ticket slip as you will use it at your final destination in order to leave the metro. Metro is very clean. Not crowded. Safe as a drive. And also safe as security is tough and no pickpocketers are allowed inside. Great experience.
