Saint Rolendis died in the Villers-Poterie district in the middle of the 8th century. Her grave in the church of Gerpinnes developed into an important place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. Even today, in honor of the saint, there is an annual procession at Pentecost, the participants of which, in uniforms from the Napoleonic wars, walk around the 40 km long border of the district.
