The architectural ensemble, consisting of the squares Plaza Spínola, Plaza Carbón and Plaza del Siglo, has been an inviting stopover halfway between Plaza de la Merced and Plaza de la Constitución since their redesign and their now uniform paving.

Plaza del Siglo was built in 1868 after the destruction of the Santa Clara Convent from 1495. Next to this square is the small Plaza del Carbón. The many small points of light sunk into the ground are symbols that are intended to remind us of the stream that once ran through Granada Street.
