Ex Ruta 9 is not really a good option. After heavy rains, the track is completely flooded (we had more than 10cm of water in places). In the dry season the track remains quite uncomfortable because of the big stones on the ground. Strongly not recommended with a loaded touring bike.
With your MTB tandem we managed to do about 3km (coming from the south) before being blocked by a mudslide.
