The name Cililin apparently comes from the sentence "Uit tuit lijn weg" which means a straight road/directly from the plantation. The sentence was sent as an order from the Regent Preanger to the Wedana Rongga in 1840 to facilitate the transportation of forced cultivation results from the coffee plantation in Gununghalu to Bandung. From the sentence uit tuit lijn weg which made the Sundanese people sprawl, it was shortened to Elina. Then as is the custom of the Sundanese people, the name of the area is often given the prefix Ci. Becoming Cielina. Over time it became Cielin. Then Cilin. And now it is Cililin.
