The Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands cover 261 hectares of the last remnants of the historic Carrum Carrum Swamp, which was originally over 4,000 hectares. Recognised as a Wetland of International Importance, it’s a sanctuary for resident and migratory waterbirds, with over 7,000 that call this wetland home and 190 recorded species, including the sharp-tailed sandpiper and Australasian bittern. It is also home to a population of eastern grey kangaroos. There are walking and cycling trails, bird hides, and picturesque views, making it an ideal spot to appreciate one of the area’s largest natural wetlands.
