Gondarém is one of the best preserved schist villages in the region, a true refuge where time seems to slow down.Nearby is the necropolis of Gondarém, a fascinating vestige of the Roman era. The site was discovered by chance in 1950, when a plough pulled by animals lifted slabs of schist that later turned out to be the covers of ancient graves.
