This is the crossing of the historic Tōkaidō highway and the Akiha Kodō pilgrimage route at Ōike-bashi bridge in Kakegawa City. The Tōkaidō continues in southwestern and eastern direction, while the Akiha Kodō (Shio-no-michi) branches of to the northwest, heading for the Akihasan Shrine and Nagano (Shinshu). This is a good place to start your Akiha pilgrimage when coming from the south. There is a prayer shrine and and a historic lantern close by.
