The official name of the sculpture group is Joy of Life. Unofficially, however, the sculpture can be called Three Graces in Black (and that was the final intention). A less controversial name is associated with the date of its creation in 1984. The author, Olbram Zoubek, was not one of the favorite artists in the socialist era.

The Graces (Charites - Aglaia, Euphrosyne and Taleja) are the daughters of Zeus and the Oceanid Eurynome. They are the goddesses of charm, beauty and joy.
