Hongjecheon Stream is the first tributary of the Hangang River. The stream runs 13.92km-long and flows through Jongno-gu, Seodaemun-gu and Mapo-gu. The stream was historically also referred to as Hongjewoncheon Stream due to its proximity to the Joseon-era Hongjewon rest area. Visiting Chinese envoys and officials would often stop by here to refresh. Today, Hongjecheon is famous for its waterfall and bicycle path - from VisitSeoul.net

The pillars of the bridges above the bike path are adorned with what look to be reproductions of famous pieces of art, as with all multiple use leisure spaces in Seoul there are masses of seating areas, picnic spots and free to use exercise machinery.

NOTE: beware of low lying bridges over head as you travel in either direction on the west side of the stream
