An imposing structure worth a visit.
According to recent findings, the wall is so well preserved because it has processed in the mortar rice starch (glutinous rice). That's no joke.
Normally, such brick buildings only last about 100 years. By adding rice, smaller crystals form in the mortar, which are more stable and last much longer.
A happiness for us today; otherwise we would not be able to marvel at this building today.

10 km walk on and next to the great wall. Take something to eat and plenty of water with you. Also wear shoes with a good grip! Enjoy!
