Hiking

The Erbstollen are the drainage of the mines. They were excavated (manufactured) from the lowest points of the site towards the deposit. While the natural groundwater level previously determined the coal reserves, all coal above the Erbstollen could now be mined. The production of such a heritage stollen was incredibly laborious. Although the hard layers of rock had been blasted with black powder since the middle of the 18th century, the tunneling was done by hand: it was done with flat irons, picks, drills and hammers, "hammers and chisels". An oil lamp served as lighting
"Frog".
