The church in its current architectural form was built in 1824. The temple was consecrated on September 4, 1825 by the Bishop of Warmia, Józef von Hohenzollern. The church was built by the master mason Zadroziński from Reszel. The brick church in Leginy is a hall church with a porch on the north and a sacristy on the east.
