Depending on the direction you start on the circular route, it can be very strenuous. Our tour starts off super easy and is very difficult at the end. Recommendation: start from Taboga directly uphill and arrive relaxed at the end at the Villa Caprichosa restaurant. Incidentally, this is also an upscale hotel if you want to stay overnight on the island.
Equipment: water, light sports or hiking shoes (no sandals!) and if you are sensitive, you should pack very light long trousers for the part in the rainforest. Mosquitoes are harmless and there were only a few, but you walk through some tall greenery and we were wary of the tarantulas (see photo). Otherwise, we saw frogs, bats, butterflies and lots of birds.
