Pierce Mountain Trail is an alternate route to the Sourdough Mountain Lookout and less traveled than the trail from Diablo. As such it can be a bit rough and overgrown in places but the views are nothing short of phenomenal. There is a back country campsite along the trail as well, just be sure to book your permit ahead of time.
