Tips
Next to the former medieval monastery complex is the Catholic parish church of St. Michael. From the outside it initially appears rather unusual, as it looks like a house. After the introduction of the Reformation in the region of Lippe, the monastery grounds were divided between the Count of Lippe and the Prince-Bishop of Paderborn after lengthy disputes. In the Paderborn part (the southern part of the monastery complex) the Jesuits built a residential building with a chapel in 1695. This became the current parish church of St. Michael. It includes 10 villages in the far east of Lippe. The interior is baroque.
