Penguin Island sits just off the rocky shoreline along Grass Point and can be reached on foot when the tide is low. The small island is thought to be named for the little penguins that inhabit parts of the Bruny Island coast, although sightings here are not guaranteed and they are usually active after dark. At low tide you can carefully cross the exposed rocks and explore the island’s shoreline, with clear views back toward Adventure Bay and the Tasman Sea.
