The Cycling East group advised that the 40km dirt road near Surami that Komoot tells you to take is awful in winter/wet weather, so I went this way instead. It’s a lovely road. Lots of elevation but not much traffic, people are friendly, and the drivers aren’t aggressive like they are coming out of Batumi. Chiatura is a very cool place to spend some time. The views are great.
