In 1870, a farm was built on the edge of the Dorschkamp. That house formed the basis of the Dorschkamp estate, founded in 1906. During the Second World War, German troops were stationed there and the house was badly damaged. It was demolished in the 1960s. The monumental trees around the former building can still be seen.
TNO has conducted forestry experiments in the area for many years. Between 1974 and 2008, the Pieter Pauw hospital was located on the south side of the site. The asylum seekers' centre and ecovillage Ppauw currently use this area.

The Dorschkamp is located on the Wageningse berg, in the wooded area bordering the Wageningse Eng. The area covers approximately 70 hectares, is part of the Gelderland Nature Network (GNN) and borders the Veluwe Natura 2000 area. The Dorschkamp consists partly of beech-oak forest, interspersed with herb-rich grasslands, and serves as a buffer zone for the Natura 2000 area.
