    Mountaineering

This temple is of both Shingon and Jodo sects. Its Buddhist name is Zenrin-ji Temple. Its mountain name is Mount Nijo. Its principal image is the Taima Mandala. At the time of its founding, the principal image was Maitreya Buddha (in the Golden Hall). The temple is a coexistence of Shingon and Jodo sects. It is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku's half-brother, Prince Maroko (Prince Taima), but there are many unknowns about its origins.
