During the Reformation, the church fell to the Protestants, who were both Reformed and Lutheran in Mölsheim.
During the War of the Palatinate Succession (1688-1697), the church was badly damaged in 1689 and burned down completely. The reconstruction of the church began in 1703 on the initiative of the Swedish King Charles XII, who financed the construction of the church tower, henceforth also known as the Charles Tower. [...]
