The lakes, reed beds, channels and waterfalls on this nature reserve support myriad species of wildlife including bats (pipistrelle, noctule, whiskered, Daubenton’s, long-eared and serotine); grass snakes; harvest mice; kingfishers; newts (palmate and smooth); song birds (including Cetti’s, reed and sedge warblers); damselflies and dragonflies; glow worms; wainscot moths; water birds (including Bewick’s swans and pochards in winter); water shrews and voles.
