The battle for Ribnik took place in this place and the conditions for the liberation of Medak and the hinterland were created. On September 24, 1991, after the expulsion of the Serbian army from the vicinity of Gospić, Croatian volunteers were stopped. The armored vehicle of the Croatian Army 'Krešimir' was hit by a tank at this location, the volunteer from Zagreb, Dubravko Šaka, was killed, and eight more of his comrades were wounded. This armored personnel carrier is actually the vehicle 'Hrvoje' without 'Krešimir' written on it because the real 'Krešimir' was badly damaged by a tank shell.
