    The Ficinus Colony is a historic workers' estate at Kubiny Street in Ruda Śląska - Wirek. It was built in the years 1860-1867 for employees of the Gottessegen mine, founded by the Bytom-Siemianowice line of the Henckel von Donnersmarck family. The name Ficinus comes from the surname of the mining councilor and general director of the estate of Count Henckel von Donnersmarck - Georg Ficinus, the initiator of the construction of the estate. The colony consists of 16 buildings, each with four apartments, including a vestibule, kitchen and a small room. Ficinus had the character of a rural-industrial colony. Behind the buildings there were farm buildings - intended for breeding small livestock and small fields. The Ficinus buildings do not resemble the brick Silesian tenement houses in any way. The uniqueness of the estate lies in the use of natural sandstone as a building material, obtained from nearby quarries. Ficinus is currently the oldest preserved complex of patronal buildings in Upper Silesia
