The history of the former mill, from its inception to its current use as a pottery workshop, is marked by remarkable individuals. From 1834 until September 1849, Michael Müller owned and operated the "Lower Mill at Dautenstein." He also served as mayor of the municipality between 1844 and 1849. Michael Müller became one of the many victims of the 1848/49 revolution. His commitment to and pursuit of freedom for the people of Baden came at a high and merciless price. He was imprisoned for "participation in high treason."
