Most likely, the first mention of the existence of a wooden church is specified in the report of the bishop's visit, which took place in 1583. The first brick church was built in 1642. During these periods, the building suffered greatly from the effects of warfare, as well as numerous fires. A new church was built in 1724 and consecrated in 1769.

Hiking

In the years 1914–1917, the church that exists to this day was built, representing the neo-baroque style. In 1970, Bishop Kazimierz Kowalski of Chełmno decided to establish a Marian sanctuary in this temple. In 1997, the temple was given the title of the Marian Sanctuary of Our Lady of Kościerzyna – Queen of Families. The coronation of the image with papal crowns took place on May 16, 1998.
