The church burned centuries ago and people forgot about it. The Church of the Epiphany in Ostrá Lúka was turned into rubble overgrown with vegetation. Thus it remained "lying" unnoticed until archaeologists became interested in it. They discovered with enthusiasm that the stairs leading to the brick crypt, where members of the Ostrolúcky family probably once rested, were also preserved there.
