From 1993 to 2002, the art exhibition "Between the Dikes" took place in Büsum, presenting works of art in public spaces for several weeks each summer. As part of this exhibition, the artwork was first installed on the dike near the lock in 2000. Not least because of its "dual purpose," the work was equally well-received by art lovers and passersby, and the municipality of Büsum decided to purchase the benches and permanently install them on the dike.
