Paloukia is the port of Salamina, they are located in the eastern part of the island and are its main port. The name came from the numerous stakes (palukia) that were used in the past for anchoring boats, due to the lack of a port. The port - Ferry of Palukia today hosts 34 Amphibious ferries that serve the twenty-four-hour ferry connection with Perama. There is also a direct connection to the port of Piraeus with small passenger boats. According to Eurostat data on passenger traffic in Europe's ports, in 2008 and 2009, Palukia of Salamina is in second place on the list and Perama in third place, as 13 million passengers used the ferry line, both in 2008 , as in 2009.
