    Size: weight = 8-13 lbs. length = 2.5 feet including tail

    Habitat: woodlands, marshes, swamps, and streams

    Diet: omnivorous - eats meat and plants such as insects, rodents, birds, berries, and fruit

    Life Span: 2 years in the wild, 4 years in captivity

    Opossum Oddities:

    The opossum is North America's only native marsupial.

    Opossum's feign death when threatened, hence the well-known term "playing possum".

    Opossum babies are the size of a jellybean when they are born!
