    On the edge of the imposing Zrmanja Canyon is the impressive Zrmanja Plateau (Parizevacka glavica). For Winnetou fans it is better known as Rio Pecos. The karst plateau is one of the most famous motifs of the locations of the Karl May films from the 60s and 70s. Because Winnetou's home was in this beautiful landscape. If you remember: Winnetou and his friend Old Shatterhand became blood brothers on that rock. Scenes for Winnetou 1, Winnetou 3, Old Surehand and Winnetou as well as for Old Shatterhand in the Valley of the Dead were filmed in the Zrmanja Canyon. But the scenic beauty of the Dalmatia region also serves as the setting for Treasure of Silver Lake, Old Surehand, Winnetou and the Half-Breed Apanatschi and in the Valley of the Dead.
