The Canale della Vittoria is an artificial waterway in the province of Treviso. It originates, together with the Piavesella di Nervesa and the Canale della Vittoria di Ponente, from a short canal that diverts about 25 m³ of water per second from the Piave River, at the height of Nervesa della Battaglia, where a power plant also stands.
The project was born in the nineteenth century, but was only realized in the following century. The works were concluded in 1925, in the midst of the fascist regime and on November 8 of the same year, amidst a riot of flags, His Majesty the King of Italy inaugurated with great pomp the power plant of the intake structure and the irrigation distribution network, pressing a button that raised the floodgates, allowing the water to flow towards the countryside.
Over the years the work has demonstrated all its validity and in 1954 during its first renovation it was equipped with a reinforced concrete dam.
Today it is a complex system that ensures the water supply of the municipalities northeast of Treviso and is part of an even larger complex, which involves the entire area between the Piave and the Sile.
