From the foundation of the city to 1750, city walls, defensive embankments and a moat ran along the current park. After 1750, the defensive embankments were demolished, the moat was filled and plots were created. When there was no burial space around the church, the area was turned into a cemetery, which operated until around 1880. Over time, the cemetery area changed, tombstones disappeared and the area was used for walks. The last tombstones were removed in the mid-20th century. From then on, it is an official city park.
