The villagers who lived in Izbica (originally called Giesebitz) until 1945 were, with rare exceptions, Protestant (members of the regional church) and belonged to the Protestant parish of Glowitz. If Catholics were present, they belonged to the Catholic parish of Stolp.
The village church was forcibly expropriated by the Polish administration in 1945 in favor of the Polish Catholic Church and 'reconsecrated' by the Polish Catholic clergy.
