Founded in 1686 by Odorico Bonano, a layman who decided to retire in solitude to devote himself to religious life, the convent soon became a point of reference for other friars who wanted to follow the rule of Saint Francis of Assisi. In 1689, Bonano obtained official authorization to wear the habit of the Franciscan Tertiary and, over time, the community grew with the arrival of other religious, including Fra Felice, Valentino Bonano and Father Bonaventura.
