    The "Goldene Aue" is a wonderful place on the Sophienhöhe. Here, open-cast mining and the post-mining landscape are (still) very close together. When visibility is good, there is a wonderful view from the Siebengebirge across the Eifel. Since 2024, wild horses have also lived here and can be easily observed from the viewing point. An absolute highlight on the Sophienhöhe and now a popular visitor.
