Located on the Oued Toudgha in the province of Tinghir and in operation since 2022, the Toudgha dam is intended for the protection of the tourist site of the Toudgha gorges, against flooding, the irrigation of agricultural land downstream of the dam, the supply of drinking and industrial water, as well as the development of the tourist pole of Toudgha. It is 67,5 meters high, with a capacity of 33 million cubic meters. Located about 3.5 km downstream from the village of Tamtatouchte, its construction, which lasted 4 years, has cost 540 million dirhams.
In terms of infrastructure, the development of the Toudgha dam has contributed to the definitive deviation of the national road n°12 and the reconstruction of public buildings, such as the Tighremt mosque on an area of 6,500 m2 (7.8 million dirhams). In parallel with the construction of the dam, the local population has benefited from the implementation of several socio-economic and environmental projects. sygeo.ma/toudgha
