Schwebheim Castle The original structure of the moated castle was built in 1440 by Balthasar von Wenkheim. Through the purchase of Wilhelm von Bibra, the castle and the associated domain came into the possession of the von Bibra family in 1513. After the destruction in the Peasants' War in 1525, the castle was rebuilt by Hans von Bibra.

Parts of the palace complex were destroyed in World War II and the buildings have been preserved to varying degrees.

In 2001, the Nordkemenate was extensively restored by the owner family. Since 2015, further parts of the palace complex have been converted into apartments.
