The central square of Lixouri (also known as Plateia Petritsi). The most striking feature of this square is the enormous rubber tree (Ficus elastica) that presides at its center. It survived the almost complete destruction of the town by the devastating earthquake of 1953.
Today, it is considered the town's landmark and "trademark".
The square is the heart of Lixouri, where locals and visitors gather in traditional cafes and tavernas.
