This Highlight is in a protected area
Please check local regulations for: Naturpark Hohe Mark - Westmünsterland
The Fürstenkuhle is a nature reserve of about 100 hectares. Through the area leads a narrow path. In the center there is a heather, which you can walk along a landscaped boardwalk.
The Fürstenkuhle is home to a significant moor frog population. The males are often bright blue during the mating season.
Incidentally, the name Fürstenkuhle goes back to the Low German word Voskenkuhle = Fuchsloch, so it has nothing to do with princes.

Particularly interesting is the area for amphibian and reptile friends, because even highly endangered species such as the moor frog and the common viper find here a suitable habitat.
