Best Hikes to Fürstenkuhle Nature Reserve

Tips

  • The Fürstenkuhle is a nature reserve of about 100 hectares. Through the area leads a narrow path. In the center there is a heather, which you can walk along a landscaped boardwalk.
The Fürstenkuhle is home to a significant moor frog population. The males are often bright blue during the mating season.
Incidentally, the name Fürstenkuhle goes back to the Low German word Voskenkuhle = Fuchsloch, so it has nothing to do with princes.

  • Particularly interesting is the area for amphibian and reptile friends, because even highly endangered species such as the moor frog and the common viper find here a suitable habitat.
