The village on the Bug River itself was a theatre of battles during the Polish-Bolshevik war in 1920 for the main bridge over the river, victorious for the Polish lancers, who stopped the enemy using cannons captured from the Bolsheviks! The Bug, symbolically dividing Podlasie into eastern and western parts, shows its power at Frankopol thanks to the impressive width of the water surface. xn--wielkigocinieclitewski-fee.eu/frankopol

The victorious counter-offensive of the Polish army in August 1920 also had a significant Podlasie episode in the form of the battle of the Polish uhlans at Skrzeszew and Frankopol on the Bug River. Here, on August 19, 1920, Polish soldiers cut off the Bolsheviks' retreat. About 40 uhlans, mostly volunteers, died in the battle.

The battle of Skrzeszew and Frankopol was a fragment of the Polish counter-offensive from the Wieprz River to the rear of the Russian troops attacking Warsaw. Among the Polish units was the Volunteer Cavalry Group of Major Feliks Jaworski, formed improvisedly in the summer of 1920. The basic core consisted of volunteers from the Lublin and Siedlce regions, with even high school students joining the ranks en masse.

Jaworski's Uhlans (approx. 500 cavalrymen) set off to battle on August 16, 1920, from near Kock. On the way, they captured Radzyń and Międzyrzec, and on August 18, Mordy and Łosice. Here, they received an order to continue the forced pursuit in order to prevent the enemy from crossing the Bug River.
