  • The approximately 32 ha Flemish nature reserve “Pinnekensweier” (or Pinnekenswijer as stated by the Agency for Nature and Forests) is centrally located. Pinnekenswijer has two fens: the “large fen” and the “small fen”. They are only fed by rainwater. The water level is therefore strongly dependent on the weather conditions. These hanging fens are low in oxygen and rather acidic, due to the stagnant water and the impenetrable soil. Source and more information: wet.gerhagen.be/index.php/gerhagen/natuurpark-gerhagenMany paths are not accessible from 1 March to 1 August.
