In the Middle Ages, the village of Langel stood on a field here and was the ancestral home of the Knights of Lanchele until 1268. Descendants of the family held high offices in the town in the 14th century. It is not known when the residents left the village. The uninhabited half-timbered houses fell into disrepair and have now completely disappeared. All that remains of the abandoned village of Langel are ceramic shards that were once buried in the ground as waste.

A document from 1015 mentions the village of Langel for the first time. Other mentions are in 1074 as Langele, 1151 as Langelach, 1268 as Lanchele and 1554 as Langeln. The village had a mill, which today exists as a farmyard on the other side of the street.
